REDCAN has respond to the government’s call for evidence for the new Mental Health Strategy for England.

Eating disorders have among the highest mortality rates of any mental illness, yet too many people still wait too long for the right support. Our response draws on the experience of our member charities and the people they support, calling for earlier intervention and properly funded community services.

We use our experience to show the value of an all ages, all-stages eating disorder pathway to be commissioned in each area of England, incorporating the expertise of the regional eating disorder charities in early intervention and community support so fewer people need NHS treatment for eating disorders.
